About Us

About Us

We're a nonprofit, academic health system rooted in rural communities across Vermont and northern New York, committed to building a healthier, more equitable tomorrow.

Who is UVM Health?

We’re proud to be Vermont’s only academic medical center and a safety net serving more than one million people in our region. Our system includes:

  • A children’s hospital
  • Five community hospitals (three designated as critical access)
  • A multispecialty medical group
  • A home health and hospice provider
  • Four skilled nursing facilities

Whether you need routine care or life-saving treatment, we’re here with the latest tools and expertise to help you live your healthiest life.

As part of an academic health system, we’re not just caring for patients — we’re also training the next generation of health care professionals. In partnership with the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine and College of Nursing and Health Sciences, we bring the latest research and knowledge directly to the bedside.

A Team You Can Trust

Our health system unites more than 14,000 mission-driven professionals – including more than 2,000 employed providers – who are committed to improving the health and well-being of communities across Vermont and northern New York.

We're forging new collaborations to demonstrate how rural health providers can sustain high-quality care for everyone. At the same time, we're fostering a culture of inclusivity and belonging to ensure an exceptional experience for both our employees and the people we serve.

Rural health care faces big challenges. That’s why UVM Health is embracing change, making tough decisions and charting a new path. We’re improving outcomes, lowering costs and expanding access—to become a national model for sustainable, rural, academic health care.
